President's Letter: 2025 Is Upon Us!

Updated: Nov 29

2024 is quickly coming to a close, and what a whirlwind of a year it has been! As we witness the world's happenings, let's find solace in the familiar and cherish the warmth of our dear friends and family. How fortunate are we to have such an amazing circle of friends and brothers within our alumni association! With the holiday season approaching, let's make it a point to connect with our bros and show them we care. Bring along your buddies to our upcoming events and let's keep the spirit of brotherhood vibrant and unbreakable! I've noticed a few familiar faces missing from our gatherings, so let's prioritize reaching out to our old pals and reminding them of the bond we share. And speaking of events, mark your calendars for our annual Holiday Party on December 7th, from 4:00-7:00 at The San Diego Yacht Club! I can't wait to reunite with those bros who have been absent lately. Let's kick off the holiday season with laughter, joy, and the best of friends!

We cordially invite you to become a member of the alumni association for the year 2025. Our membership program has been enhanced to offer an array of benefits across different membership levels. The levels now include the Neophyte Club (for first-time members), Phoenix Club, Lion Club, Minerva Club, and Phi Alpha Club. Notably, the Lion, Minerva, and Phi Alpha Clubs come with exclusive benefits such as complimentary access to a variety of events and luncheons. For further details, please visit our website and consider joining us. Your membership plays a vital role in supporting our events, providing scholarships, and offering benefits to local undergraduates, while also keeping you updated on news and events within our community. Explore our membership program at www.saesd.org/membership.

In reflecting on 2024, we successfully hosted our traditional luncheons at SDYC. The lineup of speakers was impressive, featuring Coach Brian Dutcher (in Dutch We Trust), new SDSU Football Coach Sean Lewis, and new San Diego Chief of Police Scott Wahl. Rest assured, we are already in the process of organizing their return in 2025, while also exploring opportunities to invite other engaging speakers. The celebration of Cal Theta's 75th Anniversary in August was a delightful occasion that brought together numerous brothers spanning across different eras. Our experience at the Padres summer game was enjoyable, yet I am determined to elevate our experience by securing a suite for next year. This will provide us with our own space to truly connect and catch up with fellow brothers.

2025 FOUNDERS DAY: Our plans for Founders Day on March 1, 2025, are well underway. We intentionally scheduled it early to avoid any conflicts with the MWC Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas.

Get ready for the exciting addition to our social calendar - “ΣΑΕ Third Thursdays”! This alumni engagement initiative is a fantastic opportunity for Brothers to come together on the third Thursday of each month in various locales and cities across the Realm. Whether you're a newcomer to the city, a seasoned resident, looking to expand your professional network, or simply eager to meet other ΣΑΕs, Sigma Alpha Epsilon is here to provide you with a vibrant space to celebrate Brotherhood every third Thursday. Our ΣΑΕ network is robust and influential, and we are confident that attending these informal gatherings will bring immense value by strengthening personal and professional connections, thereby deepening the Bonds of Our Beloved Order. While we've had a successful event called “Brews with Bros” in the past years, ΣΑΕ Third Thursdays share the same objective but on a national scale. In San Diego County alone, there are numerous ΣΑΕ alumni who have yet to engage with our Alumni Association. With this initiative, we aim to attract more Brothers to our events and expand our membership base. We are currently on the lookout for fresh venues for the inaugural “Third Thursday” of 2025, so stay tuned for further details (typically held from 5-7 pm, rotating among local craft breweries, restaurants, or bars).

Strong alumni associations are essential for the health and success of our fraternity. These associations not only offer a platform for ΣΑΕ alumni but also extend help and support to our undergraduate chapters. We are proud members of one of the most robust alumni associations nationwide, contributing to the presence of two thriving chapters in San Diego. This achievement is a direct result of the unwavering support we receive from each and every one of you year after year. Your continued membership and active involvement are greatly appreciated. I eagerly anticipate our upcoming gatherings. Thank you for your dedication!
